Northeast Texas Asset-Building Conference in Tyler!!!

Together with partners RAISE Texas and the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, we have completed three of our four regional asset-building conferences.  The third was held in Midland/Odessa with 100 individuals and organizations discussing ways to expand economic success and asset-building activities in the Permian Basin.

We move to Tyler on July 21 for the finale, where we join the Texas Economic Development Council as part of their Summer Meeting agenda.  Featured speakers include John Molinaro with the Community Strategies group of the Aspen Institute in Washington, D.C. and Joe Black, president of Southern Bancorp’s Capital Partners in Helena-West Helena, AR.   John will discuss an acclaimed policy framework to help struggling families move into the economic mainstream, and Joe will explain why America’s largest development bank found it necessary to move beyond traditional capital- and workforce-based programs to accomplish its regional redevelopment goals.  Click HERE for the agenda, time and location details (Word Document).

The conferences will be followed by initiatives to expand economic success and asset-building activities into small cities and rural communities, a project to be supported in part by Bank of America and Citibank.

The conference is FREE, but please register at Federal Reserve Bank.

What is TRIF?

TRIF is a series of forums, held approximately 6-8 times per year. Each forum features noted speakers with outstanding expertise in rural development and practitioners with firsthand knowledge of successful programs and practices.

TRIF brings firsthand knowledge of the most innovative and successful rural development projects in the nation to YOU – the business, civic, social, educational and cultural leaders of Texas’ small cities, towns and rural regions. And we bring it from the people who are making it happen in their home towns from coast to coast.

TRIF speakers will present a mix of theory and practice, but it is all about action and improvement at home, on the ground – not pie-in-the-sky! We are supported by a cast of all-star sponsors who insist on keeping it real!

As an added benefit, through TRIF you become part of a network of like-minded innovators from across rural (and urban) Texas. TRIF is your opportunity to get together with real people who make things happen!
